Tier 1 Entrepreneur

The Tier 1 Entrepreneur Visa is for migrants who want to set up their business in the UK. Under this scheme you are required to achieve 95 points in total; 75 points for attributes, 10 points for English and 10 points for maintenance.

Attributes

Applicants are required to demonstrate that they have access to at least £200,000.00 or £50,000.00 to invest into a UK Registered Company. These funds can belong to you or to any third parties (spouse/partner/investor) and must be held in a regulated financial institution.

Documents Required

You will need to provide a business plan which can demonstrate the generation of new employment for resident labour & the measures taken by the migrant to help the business grow.

From 1st Sep, 2015 a criminal record certificate is required from any country the migrant have lived in for 12 months or more in the last 10 years.

Evidence of English language or having passed an English language Test level B1 or equivalent is required.

Maintenance

If you are applying from outside the UK, the balance must show that you have had at least £3,310 in your account at all times over the last three months prior to the application.(Documentation should not be more than 28 days old at the time of application). For any dependants there is an additional maintenance amount of £1,890 to support each dependant where the main applicant has been in the UK for less than twelve months.

If you are applying from within the UK, the balance must show that you have had at least £945 in your account at all times over the last three months prior to the application. For any dependants there is an additional maintenance amount of £630 to support each dependant as well as the funds needed for the main applicant.

Obligations of applicant

  • Must have an intention of active involvement in driving the UK Company.
  • Must maintain level of investment above £200,000.00 or £50,000.00 throughout the five year qualifying period.
  • Must maintain or increase employment of at least two fulltime jobs that have existed for at least twelve months.
  • Not permitted to spend more than 180 days outside of the United Kingdom in any one year throughout the whole five years.
